Gwen Vanderheyden

Variety is the spice of life and I have yet to find a medium, technique, or craft that wasn’t worth exploring — but I always come back to watercolour as my favourite medium. I am largely self taught but have participated in many workshops that have expanded my horizons. I am inspired by nature and most often my paintings are loose and fluid. I’m also very inspired by the village life and capturing small vingnettes of the ordinary and beautiful moments in Port. Dogs, in particular are central to life in Port and I enjoy capturing their essence.Now that I’m retired I have loads of free time to get lost— and found — in my art.
