SHARON LEE
I began my art journey 9 years ago on retirement from my career. I have always had a love of art and all things artistic, and so I decided to try my hand putting paint to canvas to see what I could do.
I took art lesson from a number of instructors over the years in watercolour, acrylic, and currently in oil, and from those classes, and from copying artists I admired, I learned to draw, to mix paint, and about what kind of art inspires me.
I have ventured into the world of creating my own personal art; choosing my subject and composition and palette and style of expression. I have a rather eclectic style from realistic portrait to expressionism, but what intrigues me most is the magic of colour and the use of it to achieve the mystery and message that art should evoke in the viewer.
When all the stars are aligned and I find inspiration I can paint for hours and am so engrossed in the process that I lose track of time. What a wonderful sense of fun and freedom and of being my authentic self.
I am grateful to all my artist friends and who have encouraged me and to the teachers who have taught me so much about art, and about my artist self, and so very pleased to be a member of the Association of Port Stanley Artists.
