JULIA PIGACHE 15

JULIA PIGACHE

I have enjoyed creating since I was a child, but the British Education System, my family and work, left little time for me to explore this part of myself. About eighteen years ago I saw some primitive hooked rugs and decided it was something I wanted to do. I took lessons on how to hook and joined a guild. When I retired and moved to Port Stanley ten years ago I finally had the time to explore fiber art. I have taken work shops through out North America, initially on the techniques of hooking but recently more broadly in colour and design. I have become a fiber artist who chooses the medium of pulling up loops of wool both cloth and yarn. I like to dye and over dye new and used wool as well as purchasing “as is” and wool dyed by others. I also include other fibers in my work, anything I can pull through my backing with a hook.
