ARTIST STATEMENT
Early work was mostly representational landscapes in oil. Through many workshops my interests shifted in content, mediums and techniques.
Current work features collage pieces of various papers stained and marked using different techniques with fluid acrylic paints. The intensity and subtlety of the colours and patterns interest me.
Most pieces begin as abstracts, and some remain so while others start to suggest something more “identifiable.”
As each painting develops, some remain simple and others become more complicated. I have discovered that “simple” is not as easy as it sounds. I am always curious to see what has emerged when the painting feels completed.
